Does this sound like your typical morning? I'll bet if you are reading this blog that, it does. I would also be willing to bet that if you are reading this and being a fan of hot morning beverages, you are also a fan of this beautiful planet. I would also bet that if there were anything you could do to help said beautiful planet, you would.

Well, Lukara is at it again. Another eco-friendly life product has arrived and is here to help you help the earth fight against pollution and unnecessary waste.

Introducing the EcoGo reusable, compostable, to-go cup.

Yes, yes, you did read that correctly. A cup that is both reusable and compostable.

Made from a hi-tech plant-based material called PLA, the new EcoGo cup will become your favorite way to help save the planet.

So what exactly is this PLA material anyway???

PLA is a plastic-like material made from fermented plant starch, corn, maize, sugar beet pulp, or sugarcane. When fermented, the starches turn into lactic acid. Then, finally, it is heated and molded, creating a material that is not only tough and durable but requires 65% less energy to produce than conventional plastic, generates 68% fewer greenhouse gasses, and contains NO toxins. And let's not forget it is also compostable.

One morning while stopping at our favorite coffee stand, we received our order and realized at that moment we were part of a global problem. We received our drinks in disposable cups with plastic lids that, no matter how we looked at them, were coming from a source of pollutants and would eventually become a source of pollution.

We were not ok with this realization and knew we needed to do our part to help fix this issue.

After our epiphany, we began to scour the internet and research what was available on Amazon, and Walmart.com, among other favorite shopping sites. Much to our surprise and disappointment, we were not thrilled with any readily available reusable to-go cup options. Sure, there are plenty of better options than the single-use disposable cups we were given from the coffee stand, but they all had their flaws. Metal-to-go cups are great for insulation and durability, but what is required to make them and what to do with them after their useful life is not great. Plastic… I don't think I need to say why this was not a great option. We even looked at bamboo fiber and wheat straw fiber cups that were supposed to be eco-friendly. To be fair, out of the bunch, they are probably the most eco-friendly out of the options we found, but upon digging further, we found even they had a bit of a petroleum binding agent called melamine that is known to be hazardous to humans. Sadly we were back on the hunt for the perfect to-go cup that is sustainable, human safe, and reusable. Finally, we realized if we wanted such a cup, we needed to produce it ourselves… and that is exactly what we did.

We hope you share our passion for sustainable living and hope you enjoy helping save the planet from the ways of humans' past transgressions. Together we can Improve Life and Improve the earth. One eco-friendly life product at a time.
